In the summer of 2017, I started designing the wall graphics for the otter exhibit at Albuquerque BioPark. I designed them to look like the river banks of the Rio Grande.
A challenge I ran into on this project was working on such a large scale. I had to train myself to zoom in to make sure I wasn’t missing any details.
In the end, the wall graphics installer didn’t prep the walls for the graphics and the wallpaper bubbled. So we had to go with a new plan. We projected my designs on the walls and hired a muralist to paint in the projections. The muralist added their elements to it making it even better than before. Now it’s amazing to see my illustrations integrated with their work lining the walls of this exhibit.
